Leopards Shutout Cardinals 1-0 – Girls Soccer
Louisville 1, Canfield 0
The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Soccer team blanked the visiting Canfield Cardinals 1-0 Monday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the win, Louisville improves to 6-4-2 on the season.
Hannah Baughman scored the only goal for the Leopards at the 23:44 mark of the first half. Off an assist from Megan Chatelain, Baughman laced the ball into the upper right corner of the net to give Louisville the lead.
The Leopards defense would hold Canfield scoreless the rest of the way. Time and time again the Cardinals had chances to score on offense, but each time Louisville was there to turn them away. Kenzie Brown earned the shutout in goal for LHS.
The Leopards defeat the Cardinals after falling at Canfield 5-0 last season. Louisville trails the all-time series 2-5 with this being the first game in the series played at home. The Leopards only other victory over the Cardinals came at Canfield in the DI Sectional Semifinals on October 17, 2006. LHS won that contest 2-1 in overtime.
Louisville is now 2-3-2 in non-league games this season.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Salem to take on the Quakers on Wednesday, October 4. JV will begin at 5:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:00 PM.
