12-Run Second Propels Lady Leps to Win at Alliance

Louisville Leopards at Alliance Aviators

Louisville 14, Alliance 0, 5 innings

Brittany Flanigan pitched a two-hit shutout and hit a two-run home run to top off a 12-run second inning for the Lady Leopards.  Shelby Swigert also hit an inside-the-park home run for Louisville during their 14-0 win at Alliance Thursday evening.  Louisville is now 15-3 overall and 8-0 in the NBC.

The second inning scoring began with a Swigert RBI single and a Carlee Baumgardner sac bunt to make it Beatty's Sports Spring Sports Logos Softball2-0 Louisville.  The other 10 runs in the inning came with two outs as the next eight Lady Leopards reached base.

Chandler Rice smacked a 2-run double before Annie Woolf and Amy Hoover each hit back-to-back RBI singles to make it 6-0 Louisville.  Then, Jordan Monnot reached on an overthrow which brought home another run.  After that, Swigert hit her first home run of the year, but the ball never cleared the fence.  Her inside-the-park home run added three more runs to the Lady Leps tally to give them a double digit advantage.

After Baumgardner walked, Flanigan jacked her second home run of the year to make it 12-0 Louisville.  Flanigan would have three hits in the game offensively and would also strike out 6 Aviators in 5 innings of pitching.

Louisville tacked on two more runs in the later innings as well.  Hoover singled in Rice in the third inning and Baumgardner tripled to score Swigert in the fifth to finalize the score at 14-0.
