Stow-Monroe Falls Bulldogs at Louisville Leopards 2014 Freshman Football Highlights
Stow 49, Louisville 18
The Louisville Leopards Freshman Football team fell to the visiting Stow-Monroe Falls Bulldogs 49-18 Thursday at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the loss, Louisville is now 1-2 overall on the year.
Stow stormed out to a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Leopards got on the board in the second quarter when Trent Degenhard caught a tipped pass for a 14 yard touchdown pass from Jack Davis. The score was setup by Davis completions to Louis Johnson and Gavin VanZant.
After another Bulldogs touchdown, Johnson broke free for a 69 yard touchdown reception from Davis. After the conversion came up short, the deficit was now 28-13. Stow would score two additional touchdowns in the final 1:22 left in the first half to take a 30-point lead into the break.
This was the first time the running clock mercy rule took effect in a Louisville game. It did not last long though as the Leopards drove 52 yards in 6 plays before finding the endzone. Davis delivered the 7 yard touchdown strike to Drew Doerschuk to make the score 42-18.
Stow would score again near the end of the third quarter to go up 49-18. The clock continuously ran in the fourth quarter and that became the final.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Salem Quakers on Thursday, September 18 at 5:00 PM.
