Leopards Season Frozen By Polar Bears in Sectional, Finish 13-11 – Volleyball
Jackson 25-25-25, Louisville 15-11-9
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Volleyball Team fell to the top seeded Jackson Polar Bears 25-15, 25-11, 25-9 in the DI Uniontown Sectional Finals Thursday Evening at Lake High School. With the loss, Louisville finishes the 2017 campaign with an overall record of 13-11.
Paige Cole was the Leopards leading server with 3 points and also finished with a team-high 5 kills. Cami Nau also matched Cole with a team-leading 5 kills and Morgan Cole recorded a team best 12 assists to round out the offense.
Libero Ellie Jackson led the Louisville defense with a team-high 11 digs. Emily Fresenko and Nau also had 1 block each.
The Polar Bears are 5-0 against the Leopards in Division I Tournament matches since 2011. Jackson has swept their last 24 opponents at the Sectional/District Tournament level in winning 73 consecutive sets dating back to 2010.
Jackson has won 6 straight District Titles and have swept their past 22 Sectional/District foes during a 67 set winning streak. They will continue their quest for an 8th consecutive District Title when they challenge the #5 Seed Boardman Spartans in the DI Uniontown District Semifinals on Tuesday, October 24 at 5:30 PM.
Louisville is now 12-11 in tournament play since entering Division I in 2007. They are also 9-7 since their District home moved from Stow to Lake in 2011.
