The Louisville Leopards 8th Grade Football Team defeated the visiting Western Stark Catholic Crusaders 27-6 Tuesday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville remains unbeaten on the season improving to 7-0.

Elmerick Accounts for 3 Touchdowns

Romeo's Pizza Louisville, Ohio AdQuarterback Karter Elmerick led the Leopards offense in accounting for 3 of its 4 touchdowns. Elmerick broke free for an 80 yard touchdown run with 4:49 to go in the second quarter to put Louisville ahead 14-0.

Elmerick also threw a pair of touchdowns for LMS. The first was an 11 yard touchdown completion to Maddux Edgein that put the Leopards ahead 21-0 with 1:46 remaining before halftime. The second was a 40 yard touchdown pass to Ryker Youngen that extended the Louisville lead to 27-0 with 6:16 to go in the third quarter.

Karter Pawley also opened the scoring with an 18 yard touchdown run to the right on Louisville’s opening drive of the contest. Youngen booted through the first of his three extra point makes to put the Leopards up 7-0 with 6:08 remaining in the first quarter.


Leopard Defense Dominates Throughout

Louisville’s defense held Western Stark Catholic scoreless until the Crusader quarterback ran a sneak through the line for a 51 yard touchdown with 3:47 left in the contest.

Western Stark Catholic struggled to move the ball forward throughout the game as the Leopards finished with around a dozen tackles in the backfield. Ashton Brown had 3 tackles for a loss. Karter Pawley and Jeremy Wooten also had multiple stops in the backfield. 

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThe Crusaders marched into Leopard territory in the second quarter, but Wooten’s stop in the backfield forced Western Stark Catholic into a 3rd-and-18. On the next play, pressure from Brown forced a lame duck throw into the air that was hauled in by Youngen for an interception and Louisville’s only takeaway on the evening.

Anderson Jones also provided pressure to halt the Crusaders on a 4th-and-8 early on. Caige Cline busted through for a sack on a 4th-and-10 to end the first half. Cameron Metzger also made a tackle well short of the sticks when Western Stark Catholic faced a 4th-and-10 in their own territory. The next play was the 40 yard touchdown pass from Elmerick to Youngen that put LMS in firm command 27-0.

UP NEXT: The Leopards 8th Grade Team will next conclude the season when the host the Howland Tigers on Wednesday, October 9. Game time is slated for 6:15 PM from Louisville Leopards Stadium.
