Louisville Leopards Softball Team 2019 Vs. Wayedale Golden Bears

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team opened up the 2019 preseason with a 7-1 scrimmage win over the visiting Waynedale Golden Bears Thursday at the Diamond of Dreams.

Senior Starting Pitcher celebrated her 18th Birthday by pitching 4 perfect innings and striking out 8 to lead the Lady Leopards to victory. Shae Thomas pitched the remaining 3 innings, surrendered just 1 run on 4 hits, and struck out 3 in relief to earn the save.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdThomas got Louisville on the board in the third with a single to center that scored Lexi Zavarelle from second. Justina Sirohman led the offense by recording 2 of the Leopards 3 total hits as a team. She ripped the game open with a 2-run single in the fifth that scored Katie Porter and Kaylee Nolte to give the Leopards a 3-0 lead.

The patient Louisville batters drew 9 walks in the game, but showed aggressiveness on the base paths in swiping 9 steals. Sydney McKeever snagged 3 bags alone.

The Golden Bears got on the board in the top of the sixth, but the Leopards managed to score 4 runs in the final two innings without a hit via miscues. Ashley Zifer and McKeever both scored on passed balls in the sixth. Sirohman came home on an error and Lauren Bennett plated Louisville’s seventh run on a passed ball as well.

UP NEXT: The Louisville Leopards Softball Team will next host the Alliance Aviators for a scrimmage on Friday, March 15 at 5:00 PM.
