Louisville – 3rd

The Lady Leopards Varsity Volleyball team placed third at the Lake Nike Invitational Saturday at Lake High School. Louisville won 2 of their 3 games during the tournament and is now 8-3 on the season.

Match 1: Louisville 25-25, Copley 10-9

Louisville defeated the Copley Indians 25-10, 25-9 in their first match. Emily Hollifield led the Lady Leopards with 3 blocks on defense and was also Louisville’s top server with 13 points & 1 ace. Other team leaders included Brynn Guist with 9 Kills, Rachel Mathie with 8 Digs, and Haley Shadle with 23 Assists.

Match 2: Crestwood 23-25, Louisville 14-25

In their second match, Louisville fell to the eventual tournament champion Crestwood Red Devils 23-25, 14-25. Hollifield was the teams top hitter with 6 kills and also the top defender with 9 digs. Top Servers included Mathie and Sarah Lairson who each recorded 3 points & 1 ace each. Shadle again led the team in assists with 19 and Georgia Kiko recorded the only Leopards block of the match.

Match 3: Louisville 25-25, Tallmadge

Louisville closed the tournament strong with a 25-20, 25-15 win over the Tallmadge Blue Devils in the third place match. Lairson could not be stopped serving up 12 points and 1 ace. Offensively, Kayla Cole had a team-high 7 kills and Shadle again was the assists leader with 16. Defensively, Grace Jackson finished with a team-high 8 digs and Hollifield & Shadle were the top blockers with 3 each.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Marlington Dukes on Tuesday, September 16. JV will begin at 5:00 PM and Varsity will follow at approximately 6:00 PM.
