Volleyball Falls in District Semifinals to GlenOak, Finishes 17-8

GlenOak 25-26-23-25, Louisville 16-24-25-19

The #3 Seed Louisville Lady Leopards Varsity Volleyball team fell to the #2 Seed GlenOak Golden Eagles 16-25, 24-26, 25-23, 19-25 Tuesday Evening in the DI Uniontown District Semifinals at Lake High School.With the loss, Louisville finishes the season with a final record of 17-8.

The Leopards offense was led by Kayla Cole with 10 points serving, Brynn Guist with 10 kills, and Haley Shadle with 34 assists. Defensively Louisville was led by Shadle with 4 blocks and Emily Holliifield with 23 digs and 4 blocks.

The Leopards shined brightest in the third set when they rallied from a 19-13 deficit to take the set 25-Beatty's Sports Long Sleeved Leopard Nation23. The Golden Eagles responded by building a 16-10 advantage in the fourth set, but again Louisville rallied from a six point deficit to the cut deficit to a 19-18. However, GlenOak pulled away after scoring 6 of the final 7 points of the set and the match.

While the fourth set decided the match, the second set also proved key in determining the outcome. Louisville trailed 19-16 late in the second set, but used a 4-0 run to take a 20-19 advantage. Later on they held a 23-22 advantage when GlenOak burned a timeout. Out of the timeout the Golden Eagles scored 4 of the next 5 points to take the set 26-24 and a distinctive 2-0 game lead.

GlenOak will face top seeded Jackson Thursday in the District Finals at 7:00 PM at Lake High School. The Polar Bears upended the 8th Seeded Perry Panthers 25-14, 25-9, 25-19 in the late game.
