Volleyball Dominates in League Opener at Salem

Louisville 25-25-25, Salem 18-23-21

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Volleyball Team opened up conference play with a 25-18, 25-23, 25-21 JennCanAdroad victory over the host Salem Quakers at John A. Cabas Gymnasium Tuesday Evening. With the victory, Louisville improves to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in NBC play.

The Lady Leopards got huge contributions from all-around in a total team effort. Kayla Cole and Savannah Miner led the team in serving with 9 points each. Miner also had a team-leading 2 aces and Cole added another. Georgia Kiko also finished as the top hitter with 10 kills and Paige Haren led Louisville in assists with 33.

On defense, Haren, Sarah Lairson, and Miner tied for a team-high 11 digs each. Kayla Meyers also had Beatty's Sports Louisville Ohio Leopards Athletics White Shirta team-leading 3 blocks.

The Quakers won 5 out of the first 6 contests between the two squads after they joined the NBC in 2011. Since then, Louisville has dominated winning the last 5 matches in the series including the last 3 meetings at Salem. The Leopards have also swept the Quakers the last three times and have defeated Salem in 11 consecutive sets.

JV: Louisville 25-25, Salem 19-9

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the West Branch Warriors on Thursday, September 1. JV begins at 5:00 PM and Varsity follows around 6:00 PM.
