Vienna Mathews at Louisville Leopards Baseball Video Highlights
Louisville 6, Vienna Mathews 5
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball Team earned a 6-5 walk-off win over the visiting Vienna Mathews Mustangs Friday Evening at the Field of Dreams. With their seventh straight victory, Louisville improves to 10-3 on the season.
The Leopards entered the seventh inning trailing 5-4, but the first three Louisville batters got aboard to load the bases. Cam King drew a 5 pitch walk, Davis Burick reached on an error, and Caleb Prasco also drew a five pitch walk. Four pitches later, Lingle smacked a hard hit ground ball into left field driving in King from third for the tying run. Burick then came home for the winning run via an error by the left fielder.
The Leopards jumped out to a 3-0 lead early on via a pair of RBI hits by King in the first two innings. He singled home Bryce Zuppe in the bottom of the first to put Louisville on the board. Then in the second, King cracked a 2-run line drive double to left field scoring Dom Mongiardo and Zuppe again.
The Mustangs rallied back with five straight runs to take a 5-3 lead midway through the fifth. But the Leopards narrowed the margin to a single run in the bottom of the frame. Burick singled to left field, stole second and third, and then came home via a sacrifice fly by Caleb Prasco to make it 5-4. The next play they scored on ended the contest giving them their 10th victory of the season.
Lingle’s walk-off also helped his own cause on the mound as he picked up his first career Varsity win. He pitched a 1-2-3 top of the seventh that only required 7 pitches. Starter Jack Davis also pitched 4 innings and struck out 6 and Zuppe threw 2 scoreless innings in relief while fanning 3.
Dillon Canter and Chris Ritz each finished with 2 hits for Vienna Mathews. Gabe Canter also drove in a pair of runs and Starting Pitcher Hunter Schoenfeld struck out 4 in 5.1 innings of work.
