Varsity Football Cruises Past Carrollton 40-7

Louisville 40, Carrollton 7
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Football team rolled to a 40-7 win over the visiting Carrollton Warriors
Friday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in the NBC.
Quarterback Jake Adams finished 12 of 15 for 235 yards passing in just one half of play as the Leopards took a 33-0 lead into the locker room. Alec Jones also had 3 catches for 49 yards and hauled in two touchdown grabs for Louisville.
Adams hit three different receivers for scores in the second quarter. He passed to Jones for a 23 yard touchdown, hit Conner Bast for a 37 yard score, and found Tyler Adams who followed his blocks to score from 30 yards away. Adams would finish as the game’s top receiver with 5 catches for 96 yards, Brock Haren also recorded 3 receptions for 57 yards, and Bast finished with 44 yards on 2 grabs.
Adams touchdown came just one play after a Rahzul Young would have scored on a 45 yard screen pass. A holding call brought it back to the 30, but the Leopards scored anyways. Young did find the endzone on a 19 yard scamper to cap off Louisville’s 8 play, 82 yard opening drive. He would finish as the game’s leading rusher with 70 yards on 11 carries. Frankie Falcone also plunged in from 4 yards away on his only carry of the night in the first quarter.
Adams was pulled from Quarterback in the second half, but backup Brody Hahn guided the Leopards to a 7 play, 58 yards scoring drive to open the second half. Hahn would throw his first Varsity touchdown pass to a wide open Jones from 16 yards away to make it 40-0 Leopards with 6:59 left in the third quarter.
Louisville continued to substitute the rest of the way as the clock continuously ran under the mercy rule. Carrollton broke the shutout via Jacob Knipp’s 15 yard touchdown run with 4:13 to go. The score completed a 9 play, 59 yard Warrior drive that was keyed by a 4th-and-10 conversion from Quarterback Adam Shaw to Receiver Drake Anderson. Shaw would finish 11 of 20 for 71 yards through the air.
The Leopards defense was stifling as they held the Warriors to only 110 yards and 4 first downs prior to Carrollton’s final drive. In the second quarter, Dalton Deckerd recorded the only takeaway of the game with his third interception in three quarters of playing time.
With the win, Louisville has now downed Carrollton 3 straight times overall and 16 straight times at home. The Leopards now lead the all-time series 33-5-2, which includes a 19-2 mark at home. Louisville has now won 19 consecutive league games.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next play for an NBC Title when they host the Salem Quakers on Friday, October 23 at 7:00 PM.
