Softball Run-Rules South, Takes Sole Possession of 1st
Louisville 14, Canton South 3, 5 Innings
The Louisville Lady Leopards Varsity Softball team earned a run-rule 14-3 victory over the host Canton South Wildcats at Amos McDaniel Elementary School Monday. With the win, Louisville improves to 2-3 overall and 2-0 in NBC play.
Emily Cantley went 3-for-3 at the plate with a three-run homer, a two-run double, and 2 runs scored to lead the Lady Leopards. Lexi Givens also jacked a three-run homer and Grace Jackson went yard for the third time this season & drove in 3 runs. Katie Cozy and Jackson also each scored three times each.
Louisville took their frustrations of the past few games out on Canton South in the opening frame as they erupted for five runs. The Lady Leopards added to their lead later on with their best offensive inning of the year as they lit up the scoreboard for eight runs in the third.
With the victory, the Lady Leopards have now defeated the Lady Wildcats in 13 consecutive meetings dating back to 2009. Louisville now leads the all-time series 43-20, which includes a 19-12 record at Canton South. The Lady Leopards have now won 54 consecutive NBC games.
