Softball Answers Austintown Fitch in 6th to Claim Scrimmage Win

The Louisville Lady Leopards Varsity Softball Team edged the visiting Austintown Fitch Falcons 3-2 Wednesday Evening in the preseason finale. With the victory, Louisville finishes 2-0 in scrimmage play.
Cassidy Glyder’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the difference in the contest. Emily Cantley doubled two at-bats earlier, advanced to third on a passed ball, and came home via Glyder’s sacrifice.
The Lady Leopards struck first in the bottom of the third inning. Teagan Rice singled home Leandra Givens for the first run and Cantley singled in Rice for the second run. Both Cantley and Rice finished 2-for-3 at the plate in the game.
Louisville’s pitchers were dominant in the circle. Morgan Harris set the tone early by striking out the side in the first inning. Harris would finish with 8 strikeouts in four innings pitched. Sarah Cantley also pitched three scoreless innings in relief, struck out 4, and picked up the save in the 7th.
