Louisville 9, Tuslaw 0

Kyle Baker had a Hat Trick, Michael Lautner netted two goals, and four other Leopards found the net as Louisville blasted Tuslaw 9-0 in a Sectional Semifinal victory Monday night at Louisville Leopards Stadium.

The Leopards wasted no time getting on the board against the Mustangs.  Just 37 seconds into the match, Harrison Raub broke free and buried the ball into the right corner of the net.  But just as quickly as the digit changed to “1” it changed again to a “2” under the Louisville side of the scoreboard just 29 seconds later.  Baker set up a beautiful pass right in front of the net that Anthony Hoover booted out of the air and into the net.  2-0 Louisville with 78:54 still remaining in the game.

Louisville’s third goal came via a throw in by Riley Groves.  His throw bounced off the endzone turf, then off the head of a Tuslaw defender, before Lautner got control of the ball and blasted it to his right off a Mustang and into the goal.

Before the half would conclude, Baker would add two scores of his own.  One on a breakaway and another on a give and go fast break from Lautner.  Paul Fox also provided some fancy footwork that led to a goal of his own just 26 seconds before Baker added his second score.

The first half hour of the second half was scoreless, but Louisville lit Tuslaw up for three goals in the final 9:23.  The first came when Fox lobbed a pass into the penalty box to the recipient Lautner.  He then drifted a pass into the left side of the net just past the Mustang goalie.

Then, Baker completed his hat trick with a breakaway goal to make it 8-0 not long after.  Matt Campbell made an excellent lead pass to assist Baker in the score.

Campbell would get into the scoring action himself when Lautner centered a pass from the far right side of the field to the edge of the goal box.  Campbell, a Senior Defender, blasted it home for the first goal of his career with just 0:34 remaining in the final home soccer game of his high school career.

The 3-12-2 Leopards advance to face the Triway Titans on Thursday.  A win at Triway would not only give them a Sectional Crown, but also  as many tournament wins as regular season wins.

NEXT UP: The Leopards will travel to Triway to take on the Titans in the Sectional Final on Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 PM.
