Louisville Smacks Sandy Valley 15-2 in Scrimmage Opener – Softball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team earned a convincing 15-2 scrimmage victory over the visiting Sandy Valley Cardinals Monday Evening at the Diamond of Dreams. 

Kaycee Ollis batted 4-for-4 with a solo homer, a pair of RBI doubles, an RBI single, and 3 runs scored to lead the Leopards offense. Sydney McKeever also went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate as Louisville pounded out 20 hits as a team. McKeever also tripled, drove in a run, and scored 4 runs at the top of the lineup.

The Lady Leopards scored one in the first and scored multiple times in every other inning except the sixth. Rylee Squire, Justina Sirohman, and Shae Thomas all finished with multi-hit games. Ollis and Thomas both homered to right field on back-to-back pitches in the fifth inning to highlight the Louisville offensive efforts. Thomas also doubled home Ollis as part of 4-run bonus bottom of the seventh.

Starter Sarah Cantley pitched 4 innings, gave up 2 runs on 3 hits, and struck out 8. Thomas finished out the final 3 innings in shutout fashion, giving up 1 hit, and striking out 4.

The Cardinals were 25-3 a year ago and ranked #6 in the state for Division III. Sandy Valley also finished as Regional Runner-Ups in Region 11 falling to eventual State Runner-up Wheelersburg 2-0 in the Lancaster Regional Title game last May.
