Lady Leopards Eclipse Last Year’s Win Total After Shutout of Salem – Girls Soccer

The Louisville Leopards Girls Soccer Team blanked the visiting Salem Quakers 2-0 Wednesday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With their third consecutive shutout, Louisville remains unbeaten with a 4-0-1 record on the season.
Freshman Goalie Amelia Henderhan recorded her third consecutive shutout to lead the Lady Leopards. She recorded 9 saves in the process of helping Louisville earn their third consecutive shutout for the first time since the 2013 season.
“The whole back four and the keeper are doing what is needed to keep us in every game: (Fallon) VanZant. (Emily) Kirby, (Carley) Andrews, and Destiny (Adorisio). They are good.” – Head Coach John Henkel
Also for the third straight game, Tapanga Smith recorded a multi-goal effort. The scoring summary was a near carbon copy of their last game at Carrollton as Smith again scored a goal in each half and Gabby Smith provided the only Leopard assist. The Smith duo has tormented opponents as Tapanga now leads the team with 6 goals and Gabby is Louisville’s assists leader with 3.
In just five games this season, the Leopards have already eclipsed their win total from last season. Louisville has also already scored 17 goals this season which surpasses their 2018 total of 16.
The Lady Leopards have now defeated the Lady Quakers in 6 of their past 7 meetings. Louisville is now 6-2 against Salem all-time, which includes an undefeated 4-0 mark at home. LHS is now 3-0 against Eastern Buckeye Conference teams this season outscoring them 8-1. The Leopards will host the Canton South Wildcats on October 5th for their only other EBC matchup of the regular season.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next hit the road this weekend to face the GlenOak Golden Eagles on Saturday, August 31. Game time is set for 11:00 AM from Bob Commings Field.
