Balderson Scores Twice in Opening Quarter
Blake Balderson scored a pair of goals in the opening quarter to help spark the Leopards to a 2-1 lead early on. He tied the game just over two minutes after Poland’s opening goal and then netted the go-ahead score with just two seconds left in the first period off a pass from Mason Warner.
Sean Philabaum also found the back of the net in the second quarter to give Louisville a two-goal edge at the time. Seth Colley followed with a goal off an assist from LaScola to make it 4-2 before halftime.
Balderson also contributed an assist on Adler LaScola’s third-quarter goal that helped Louisville extend its lead to two possessions.
LaScola Scores Twice in the Second Half
Adler LaScola scored twice and tallied one assist in the win. His first goal came late in the third quarter to put Louisville up 5-3, and he struck again midway through the fourth to extend the advantage to three goals.
Mason Warner added an insurance goal with 1:59 left in the fourth quarter off a feed from Parker Daum to make it 7-3.
Bulldogs Stay Close But Fall Late
Alex Cook scored the first two goals for the Bulldogs, including their opening tally just under two minutes into the contest. Jason Eich and Max Soubeyrand also added goals in the second half for Poland, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Leopards’ balanced scoring effort.
The Bulldogs remain winless at 0-6 on the season.
This was the first ever meeting between Louisville and Poland in boys lacrosse. The Bulldogs are the 45th unique opponent that the Leopards have faced all-time.
