Louisville Cross Country Opens at OHSAA Preseason Invitational
The Louisville Leopards Cross Country teams competed at the OHSAA Preseason Invitational at National Trail Raceway Saturday to open the 2017 campaign. Both teams raced in Division II Sections during the meet. The Leopards Girls placed 6th out of 17 teams in the Section G race and the Louisville Boys placed 7th out of 22 teams in the Section H race.
Section G Division II Girls – 204 (6th Out of 17)
Sophomore Cassidy Kiko led the Lady Leopards by placing 5th individually with a time of 20:16.8. Other Sophomores finishing strong for Louisville were Grace Collins (21:32.8) taking 18th and Emma Patterson (22:47.4) placing 46th.
Juniors Elena Eimer (23:19.3) and Karli Miller (24:29.5) rounded out the Leopards final tally of 204 places. Other LHS runners included Nina Mehler (122nd), Riley Bobo (134th), and Emma Becher (138th).
Lexington won the race with a team score of 64 ahead of second place Poland Seminary who ended with 88 places. Poland’s Gianna Stanich (19:57.0) and Maggie Sebest (19.57.4) finished 1st and 2nd overall.

Section H Division II Boys – 208 (7th Out of 22)
The Sophomore class also led the Louisville Boys Squad. Miklos Hendricks (17:43.0) placed 20th with Logan Ison (17:43.6) finishing less than a tick behind him in 21st. Scott Gronow (17:59.4) also took 29th and Josh Schloneger (20:03.3) scored for the Leopards at 106th.
The lone upper classman to finish in Louisville’s top five was Sebastian Hendricks (18:17.3) who claimed 37th. Other Leopard runners included Robert Duncan (132nd), Nathaniel Joseph (137th), Sean Donnelly (145th), Allen Staley (151st), and Aaron Brooks (155th).
The Unioto Shermans took 1st as a team with 78 total places. Lexington’s Ryan Johnston (15:55.5) took first overall by a convincing margin to lead the Minutemen to a second place finish.
