Nigro Pours In 37 on His Senior Night
Senior guard Hayden Nigro scored 17 of his season high 37 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Leopards. He made 15 shots from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, and finished 5-of-6 from the line for the game.
The 37-point performance ties him for the seventh most points scored in a game in Louisville basketball history. It is also the fifth highest individual point total by a Leopard at home. Nigro previously scored 41 points at LHS in Louisville’s 106-85 victory over Alliance last season. Daryl Murphy (1955) still owns the single game home scoring record in the first game in which the Leopards cracked the century mark in team points. That 102-50 win over Middlebranch was played at the old high school/middle school.

Four Finish in Double Figures for Leopards
Juniors Avery Andrejcik, Brayden Gross, and Beau Siegfried all finished comfortably in double figures in addition to Nigro. Gross made 10 field goals and scored 10 of his 21 points in the third quarter before exiting the game.
Siegfried splashed home 4 of Louisville’s 10 three-pointers to finish with 16. He showed off his range at the end of the third quarter by swishing home a buzzer beater about 6 feet beyond the arch right in front of his father, Head Coach Tom Siegfried. The duo high-fived one another seconds later and Siegfried was embraced by his teammates soon after with the Leopards up big 74-54 heading into the final quarter.
Andrejcik hit a three-pointer in each of the first three quarters. He then added 4 more points in the fourth to end his evening with 13.
Altogether nine different Louisville players scored during the contest. Junior guard Tate Aljancic and junior guard Ashton Marshall scored 4 each. Freshman guard Caleb Mayle put the Leopards over the century mark with a three-pointer from the left corner with just over a minute to play in the game. Other scorers for LHS included junior post Kolton Loy and junior forward Austin Wade with 2 points each.
Badger Leads 5 Indians in Double Digits
While Louisville won the game convincingly, Northwest finished with the most points by a visiting opponent at LHS this season. The Indians had five players reach double figures led by Chase Badger who scored a team high 14. Caleb Hyrne and Tristan Pennington each scored 13. Ian Ziegler added 11 and Tyler Pappas tallied 10 to round out the NHS top scorers.
Northwest has now dropped 4 of its last 5 and closes the regular season with a 14-8 record. The Leopards are now 33-23 against the Indians all-time dating back to their first meeting in the 1959 tournament played at Canton Fieldhouse.
Louisville Ties Record with 20th Regular Season Win
This is just the second time in 99 seasons of recorded history that Louisville has won 20 games prior to the postseason. The only other team to do so was the historic 2000-01 team that completed the only perfect regular season in team history with a perfect 20-0 mark.
The Leopards also finish the regular season a perfect 9-0 at home against some stiff competition. This is the first time Louisville has finished undefeated at home since the that 2000-01 team went 10-0 within the confines of LHS. These Leopards will have a chance to eclipse that overall season mark by likely hosting a pair of tournament games starting with Akron North next Wednesday at 7:00 PM.
UP NEXT: The #4 seed Leopards will next host the #76 seed Akron North Vikings in the DI Northeast 2 Sectional Semifinals on Wednesday, February 28. Game time is set for 7:00 PM from Louisville High School.
