Wilson Provides Spark for Leopards
After a scoreless first half defined by field position and defense, Owen Wilson flipped the game in an instant. On Louisville’s first possession of the second half, the sophomore broke free on a 67-yard touchdown run with 7:52 left to put the Leopards ahead 7-0. Wilson received a big block in the backfield from Maximus Murari and sprinted down the right sideline, sprung by a downfield block from Quin Burick, on the explosive scoring play.
Wilson’s imprint went beyond the end zone in all phases of the game. He set the tone early by returning the opening kickoff 44 yards. On defense, he leaped to deflect a pass to the end zone, forcing Northwest to settle for a Ben Schanz 24-yard field goal with 2:32 remaining in the third quarter. Later in the fourth, Colton Dougherty stripped an Indian ball carrier and Wilson alertly recovered the fumble at the Northwest 39 with 5:33 remaining. Wilson was also a menace in the backfield and recorded multiple tackles for loss.

Kandel, Stoffer, and Seaman Record Interceptions
Northwest moved the ball with a run-heavy attack and sustained drives. But when forced into passing situations, Louisville’s secondary slammed the door.
Anderson Kandel made a leaping interception at the Louisville 26 midway through the first quarter, snuffing out an early Indians push. With just 17 seconds left in the second quarter, Gabe Stoffer hauled in an interception in the end zone to halt Northwest’s last first half scoring threat.
The Leopard defense bent but never broke all night in getting four key takeaways. Louisville also came up with a high-leverage fourth-down stop late, when Gabe Regimbal delivered a jarring hit on 4th-and-3 to break up a pass with 1:20 to play.
The Indians forced the Leopards into a four-and-out to earn one last possession. With six seconds left in regulation, Luke Seaman sealed the victory with a game-clinching interception at midfield.
Louisville Special Teams Come Up Big
Field position proved pivotal throughout the night. In the second quarter, Stoffer shaped the game with a 50-yard coffin-corner punt downed at the Northwest 2-yard line. In the fourth, after a short-field march highlighted by Stoffer’s 15-yard strike to Kandel on 3rd-and-14, Parker Daum coolly split the uprights from 36 yards at 5:50 to make it 10-3.
Louisville covered kicks cleanly as well; Seaman and Wilson combined for 51 kick-return yards (long 44 by Wilson), while the Leopards allowed just 34 return yards across three Northwest kick returns.
Allman’s Two Picks Keep Northwest in Striking Distance
For Northwest, Logan Allman authored a standout night defensively with two interceptions — one at the Northwest 4-yard line in the first quarter to halt a deep Leopards drive, and another in the end zone with 2:49 to play to give the Indians hope. Offensively, he chipped in 2 receptions for 18 yards tying top target Lazarus Abram (4 receptions for 18 yards) in receiving yardage.
Indians Offense Led by Running Trio
Northwest used a trio of runners to account for more of its yardage on offense. Quarterback Brayden Venables led the team in rushing with 11 carries for 68 yards, while also finishing 7 of 19 passing for 43 yards. Joey Medure accounted for the highest workload with 15 carries for 63 yards on the ground. Conner Stephenson rounded out the Indian trio with 11 carries for 46 yards rushing.
Northwest outgained Louisville 174-114 on the ground for the game, and edged the Leopards in first downs 15-10 and total yardage 217-212 on 13 more plays. Four turnovers and two failed fourth down conversions ultimately kept the Indians from finding the end zone.
Stoffer Accounts for 134 Yards of Offense
Louisville held a 98-43 edge in yardage through the air. Stoffer was 13 of 18 for 98 yards and also ran the ball 13 times for 36 yards. Seaman led all receivers with 44 yards on 4 receptions. Stoffer’s top target was Quin Burick who recorded 5 grabs for 34 yards.
