Allan Scores Twice to Lead Louisville
Senior Paige Folk opened the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 8th minute. Then senior Payton Allan delivered a perfect lead pass to sophomore Sammi Beatty in the box. With the goalkeeper charging in, Beatty redirected the ball to her right to wide open freshman Reese Riley who tapped the ball into the right side of the net for the easy score to put the Lady Leopards ahead 2-0.
Allan then scored back-to-back goals, both off assists from Beatty, to double the Louisville lead to 4-0. Allan found the back of the net at the beginning of the 13th minute capping a string of three goals by the Leopards in just 4:18.
Later in the 17th minute, Folk delivered a corner kick from the right side of the field to Beatty on the left side of the box. Beatty redirected the corner kick back to Allan on the right side of the box. Allan blasted the ball into the back of the net to make it 4-0 Louisville with 23:32 remaining the first half. Beatty notched her third assist of the contest with the goal.
Sophomore Lilli Lab scored the Lady Leopards’ fifth goal of the opening half at the start of the 25th minute. Junior Lola Lucas delivered the assist on Lab’s score. Senior Mazzy Miller also got on the board in the second half via a pass from sophomore Violet Lab to increase the Louisville advantage to 6-0 in the 58th minute.
Mercier Breaks LHS Shutout Record
Junior goalkeeper Audrey Mercier recorded her third shutout in four games. Mercier tied the team’s single season shutout record during the Lady Leopards 1-0 win over Kent Roosevelt last Saturday. Mercier now stands alone atop the record book with Saturday Night’s shutout being her record-setting ninth of the campaign.
Mercier’s predecessor Amelia Henderhan (2019-2022) recorded 8 shutouts in a season twice in 2021 and 2022. The 2004 and 2013 Louisville Girls Soccer teams also finished with 8 shutouts.
Mercier’s record setting shutout came just hours after senior goalkeeper Noah Emmons also recorded his 9th shutout of the season to set a new Leopard Boys mark.
Freshman goalkeeper came in at halftime and worked a scoreless second half to help Mercier set the record.
