The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Soccer Team rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the visiting Medina Highland Hornets 3-2 on Youth Night Thursday at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville improves to 2-5 on the season.

Burton and Mayle Answer Highland’s Early Strikes

The Hornets jumped out to a 2-0 advantage on goals by Daniel Seeley and Billy Zufall.

The Leopards answered back with a pair of goals to tie the game at 2-2 at halftime. Carter Burton scored Louisville’s first goal via an assist from Parker Daum. Burton then set up Maddox Mayle, who delivered the game-tying goal.


Busby Scores Game-Winner in Final Seconds

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdNeither team scored until the final seconds of the second half. As the clock ticked down, Mayle centered a pass to Carter Busby in the middle of the penalty box. As the Hornet goalkeeper charged in, Busby blasted the ball into the back of the net with just 8 seconds left—completing the Leopards’ dramatic comeback.

Goalkeeper Justin Keister finished with 7 saves for LHS.


First Two-Goal Comeback Win in Five Years

Corey Street for Mayor AdThis is the first time Louisville has won after overcoming a two-goal deficit in five years. In similar fashion, the Leopards trailed 2-0 against the visiting New Philadelphia Quakers before rallying for a 3-2 victory on October 15, 2020.

This is the second time Louisville has rallied to a victory this season. The other came in the opener at Field, where they allowed the first goal before scoring four unanswered to win 4-1.


Louisville Vs. Medina Highland Boys Soccer Series

The Leopards are now 1-1 against the Hornets all-time. Louisville was shut out 3-0 at Medina Highland last season.

The Hornets entered the game unbeaten in their previous five contests but now fall to 4-3-1 on the season.

UP NEXT: The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team will next travel to take on the Marlington Dukes on Saturday, September 13. JV will begin at 5:00 PM and Varsity will follow at 7:00 PM.
