Miller Hits Game-Tying 2-Run Homer in 7th

Jenny Can Cleaning AdThe Leopards trailed 6-4 heading into the last of the seventh. Senior catcher Karson Siegfried hit a 1-out single to right field allowing the tying run to come to the plate.

Junior first baseman/pitcher Cole Miller was up next and fouled off back-to-back pitches to run the count to 1-2. He then smashed the next pitch over the right-center field fence for a 2-run home run to knot the game at 6-6. The home run was Miller’s second of the season and it more importantly forced extra innings for Louisville.

Morley Hits Walk-Off Double in 8th

Equitable Advisors - Bryce MathieOn the mound, Miller surrendered a lead-off walk in the top of the eighth, but was able to get outs in the next three Tiger at-bats to keep Massillon off the scoreboard. The Leopards recorded 2 quick outs in the bottom of the eighth before sophomore center fielder Cooper Rice got aboard via a 7-pitch walk.

Morley stepped into the batter’s box next and watched a pair of strikes. He would have no plans to watch a third strike though. Instead, Morley lined the next pitch the opposite way splitting the outfielders in left-center field. With two outs, Rice was off and running and jetted around the bases scoring the winning run all the way from first. Morley reached second standing up with a walk-off RBI double to lift the Leopards to their fourth walk-off victory of the season.

Leopards Build 4-2 Advantage

Louisville struck first in the opening inning when Siegfried singled home Rice from third. Miller followed by grounding into a fielder’s choice as Morley scored from third to make it 2-0.

Massillon answered with a pair of runs in the second inning, but the Leopards took the lead back in the bottom half of the frame. Junior shortstop Andrew Corona’s 2-out RBI single scored third baseman Caleb House to make it 3-2.

Louisville added on to their lead with another clutch 2-out RBI single in the fourth inning. Rice lined that base hit into center field, which allowed House to score again in upping the Leopard lead to 4-2.

Marceric Leads Tigers Rally

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdShortstop Gavin Marceric reached on an error with 2 outs in the Tiger second. The play brought sophomore third baseman Luke McGeorge and first baseman/second baseman Chase Duplain to the plate to tie the game at 2-2.

Later in the fifth inning, Marceric reached base again via an error and McGeorge came home from third once more to trim the Louisville lead to 4-3. The Leopards would commit 6 errors in the field compared to none from the Tigers for the game.

Massillon knotted the game at 4-4 in the sixth inning. Right fielder Tyler Hackenbracht doubled to left to lead-off the frame. He then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by catcher Brock Polilli before coming home courtesy of a passed ball for the game-tying run.

With two out in the bottom of the seventh inning, Marceric smashed a 2-run home run over the left field fence to put the Tigers ahead 6-4. Catcher Brayden Garofalo, who singled early in the inning, also scored on the dinger.

Louisville Out-Hits Massillon 14-6

Morley finished 3-for-5 to lead the Leopards as Louisville out-hit Massillon 14-6 for the game. Corona, House, Rice, Siegfried, and freshman right fielder Zander Triplett all recorded multi-hit games for the Leopards.

UP NEXT: The Louisville Baseball Team will next travel to take on the Boardman Spartans on Thursday, April 27. Game time is slated for 5:00 PM from Boardman High School. JV and Freshman will be home at the same time.
