Leopards Fall to Dukes, Marlington Clinches 1st NBC Crown – Volleyball
Marlington 25-25-25, Louisville 17-18-16
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Volleyball Team was swept by the Marlington Dukes 17-25, 18-25, 16-25 Thursday Evening at Louisville High School. With the loss, Louisville falls to an even 10-10 on the year and 8-4 in the league.
Cami Nau and Emily Phillips led the Leopards in serving with 6 points and 1 ace each. Paige Cole was Louisville’s top hitter with 7 kills and Morgan Cole also finished with 19 assists.
On defense, Ellie Jackson led the Leopards with 7 digs. Paige Cole, Emily Fresenko, Katelyn Monnot, and Kaycee Ollis also had 1 block apiece.
With the win, the Lady Dukes improve to 17-3 overall and clinch the NBC outright with a 12-0 mark in the conference. In the last year of the league, this is Marlington’s first NBC title in program history.
Setter Zoey Peck setup the Dukes all evening long with a match-high 41 assists. Middle Hitter Maggie Fellers also finished with 13 kills and 3 blocks and Maria Ellesin threw down 12 kills. Libero Brittne Weigand also had a match best 10 points and 4 aces serving and 14 digs.
JV: Marlington 25-25, Louisville 14-21
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Minerva to take on the Lions on Tuesday, October 10 in their annual Volley for the Cure match. JV will begin at 5:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 6:00 PM.
