Louisville Battles #4-Ranked Marlington to 1-1 Draw – Boys Soccer

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Soccer Team battled the unbeaten and Division III No. 4-ranked Marlington Dukes to a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon at Louisville Leopards Stadium.
Marlington entered the match with a perfect 7-0 record before Louisville handed the Dukes their first non-winning result of the season. The Leopards are now 2-1-1, while Marlington moves to 7-0-1.
Inclement weather throughout the day altered the schedule, with the JV contest limited to one half and the varsity match beginning earlier than originally scheduled.

Sanders Answers Marlington Goal in First Half
Marlington struck first when Armani Stanila scored off an assist from Caleb Schumacher to give the Dukes a 1-0 advantage.
Louisville answered before halftime on a set piece with 11:30 remaining.
Parker Daum, fresh off of making the longest field goal in Louisville Football history the night before, sent a corner kick in from the left side of the field toward Brandon Sanders on the left side of the penalty box. Sanders connected and drove his shot diagonally across the box and into the right side of the net to knot the match at 1-1.
Keister Makes 15 Saves to Preserve Draw
Marlington continued to challenge the Louisville defense, but goalkeeper Justin Keister delivered a standout performance in net.
Keister finished with 15 saves as he and the Leopard defense held the fourth-ranked Dukes scoreless throughout the entire second half.
Louisville was also unable to break through after the intermission, leaving the teams deadlocked at 1-1 when time expired.
The draw snapped Marlington’s seven-game winning streak to start the season and marked the first time the Dukes failed to earn a victory in 2026.
Leopards Draw Marlington for Second Straight Regular Season
Louisville and Marlington have now played to a draw in consecutive regular-season meetings.
The Leopards battled the Dukes to a 0-0 tie at Marlington on September 13, 2025. The teams met again in the postseason just over a month later, when Marlington defeated Louisville 4-0 in a Division III Northeast 1 District Semifinal.
Saturday’s draw moves Louisville to 3-22-7 against Marlington all-time, including a 2-8-5 record at home.
The result also continues a much more competitive recent stretch for the Leopards in the longtime series. Louisville has held Marlington to one goal or fewer in three of the past four meetings, including a 1-0 tournament loss in 2024, last year’s scoreless regular-season draw, and Saturday’s 1-1 tie.

The Louisville Leopards Boys JV Soccer Team fell to the visiting Marlington Dukes 1-0 Saturday afternoon in a weather-shortened contest at Louisville Leopards Stadium.
With inclement weather impacting the day’s schedule, the teams played only one half. Marlington scored the lone goal of the shortened match and carried the 1-0 advantage through the end of the period.
Louisville falls to 4-2 on the season with the loss.
