Louisville 53, Salem 24
The Louisville Leopards Wrestling Team welcomed Salem to the NBC with 6 straight pins or forfeits before routing the Quakers 53-24 at Louisville High School Thursday evening. Louisville is now 9-5 overall and 3-3 in NBC play.
“Six Minutes” was the chant of the Leopards wrestlers before each match, but ironically only three matches would go the full three rounds all evening long. The Leopards took an instant 12-0 lead when Dakota Oliver (106) and Todd Bradley (113) each won by forfeit. Justin Romy (120) then started a streak of Leopard pins earning his 5:40 into his match against James Briceland. Adam Lepar (126), Logan O’brien (132), and Mark Robison (138) then followed suit to give Louisville a comfortable 36-0 advantage.
Salem’s Scott Lodge (145) broke the Louisville streak with a pin of Gavin Lovejoy 4:29 into the match. However, Louisville would answer back by winning the next three matches. Ray Fitz (152) won an 8-4 decision over Jesse Slocum. Lucas Poyser (160) won by fall late in the third round of a hard fought match with Austin Noel. Then Dale Welsh (170) defeated Elijah Bricker 5-1 to give Louisville a 48-6 advantage.
It was all academic after that. For Salem, Max Schuster (182), Brandon Boyle (220), and James Norkus (285) each won by pin or forfeit to round out the Quaker points. Tristan Roberts (195) also won by technical fall 23-5 in a heated match against Justin Harsh to put the Leps over the half-century mark.
Louisville will close out their season when they host Alliance for Senior Night next Thursday, February 9.
