Jake Beard came through with a clutch go-ahead two-run single in the top of the seventh inning, lifting the Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball Team to a 5-3 victory over the St. Edward Eagles Sunday afternoon at Schweickert Field on the campus of John Carroll University. With the win, Louisville has now taken three of its last four games to improve to 13-9 on the season.

Louisville Varsity Leopards snatched the lead late in their 5-3 victory over St. Edward Varsity Eagles on Sunday. The game was tied at three in the top of the seventh when Jake Beard singled, scoring two runs.
Louisville Varsity Leopards were the first to get on the board in the first when Grayson Brunoni singled, scoring one run.
St. Edward Varsity Eagles tied the game up in the bottom of the sixth thanks to two singles. St. Edward Varsity Eagles tied the game at three on a single by Logan Faup.
Brunoni started on the bump for Louisville Varsity Leopards. The starting pitcher allowed five hits and one run over four and one-third innings, striking out two and walking one. Grant Lashutka began the game for St. Edward Varsity Eagles. The righty surrendered seven hits and three runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out nine and walking three. Trevor Burick tossed one inning of zero-run ball for Louisville Varsity Leopards in relief. The hurler surrendered one hit, striking out none and walking one.
Beard provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Louisville Varsity Leopards with two runs batted in. The cleanup hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Max Roberts stole two bases.
St. Edward Varsity Eagles piled up 11 hits in the game. Will Addington went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead St. Edward Varsity Eagles in hits. Faup, Lashutka, and Leo DeAngelo each drove in one run for St. Edward Varsity Eagles. Addington stole two bases.
Louisville Varsity Leopards welcome Boardman on Monday for their next game.
