The DII District Tournament was held at Canal Park in Akron in each of the past three seasons and at Thurman Munson Memorial Stadium in Canton prior to that. The Leopards Field of Dreams received renovations during the offseason which included switching from natural grass to field turf. These updates are assumed to be a big factor as to why the district board chose to accept Louisville’s bid to play host this upcoming season.

In 2018, the Leopards defeated the Northwest Indians at home 11-5 to earn their first trip to Districts since 2013. Louisville found success at Canal Park in defeating the Norton Panthers 4-3 during a 9 Inning District Semifinal. The next day the Leopards would fall to top seed Tallmadge Blue Devils 1-0.

The Blue Devils, Leopards, and the other 10 teams from last year’s DII Akron District will all return for the 2019 DII Louisville District Tournament this season. The only addition is the Manchester Panthers who move up from Division III.
