Lady Leopards Plunder Pirates 16-0 – Softball
Louisville 16, Lake County Perry 0, 5 Innings
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team demolished the Lake County Perry Pirates 16-0 in five innings Saturday at Keystone High School. With their fifth straight victory, Louisville improved to 5-1 on the season.
Pitcher Sarah Cantley threw a five inning, 3-hit shutout and struck out 10 to lead the Lady Leopards in the circle. Cantley also led the offense with a 2-run double in the first inning and a 2-run homer in the second inning.
Kaycee Ollis and Teagan Rice also drove in four runs a piece for the Louisville offense. Rice went 3-for-4 hitting a 3-run double in the first inning and delivered an RBI single in the fourth. Ollis, who hit after Rice in the lineup, drove in Sydney McKeever for the first run of the game in the opening inning. Later on, Ollis singled home Rice as the Lady Leopards scored 10 runs in the first inning.
Ollis also hit a 2-run homer to cap off Louisville’s 16 run, 18 hit offensive clinic. This is the third straight game that Ollis has gone yard as her 19th career blast left the park to center field making it 16-0 Lady Leopards.
Nine different Louisville batters had hits in the contest with 6 recording a multi-hit game. Alex Fankhauser batted 2-for-3 and hit her third home run of the season with a solo shot to center in the third inning. Sydney McKeever was a perfect 3-for-3 at the top of the line up with 3 runs scored. Lexi Zavarelle was also a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate. Kaylee Nolte and Justina Sirohman tallied an RBI each as 15 of LHS’s 16 runs were driven in.
This was the first ever meeting between the two schools.
