The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the perennial powerhouse Hathaway Brown Blazers 60-45 in the South Range Holiday Hoops Classic Thursday at South Range High School. With the loss, Louisville drops to 5-4 on the year.

Barwick Scores Team High 15 for Louisville
Sophomore Courtney Barwick scored 10 of her game high 15 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Lady Leopards. She also hit 2 of her 3 three-pointers in the final quarter.
Other Louisville players in double figures included junior Brooke Haren with 12 and senior Taryn Miglich with 11. Miglich also matched Barwick with 3 three-pointers for the contest.
Leopards Rally with 11-0 Third Quarter Run
The Blazers took a 10-2 lead out of the gate and held the Leopards scoreless from the field until 1:06 remaining in the first quarter. Hathaway Brown led 13-5 after the opening stanza and extended their advantage to 34-18 by halftime.
Louisville rallied out of the locker room with a 13-2 run to start the second half. The Lady Leopards scored 11 straight points as part of the run capped off by Barwick’s three-pointer at the top of the key. That make got LHS to within 36-31 with 2:39 left in the third quarter.
Blazers Answer and Hold Lead to End
Hathaway Brown called timeout and answered back with an 11-0 run of their own to end the third period in pulling ahead 47-31. The Blazers never gave up their double digit advantage the rest of the way and cruised to the 60-48 victory to improve to 9-3 on the season.
Clark Leads Hathaway Brown with 14
Senior shooting guard Teagan Clark led Hathaway Brown who scored 9 of her 14 points in the opening quarter. She would hit 3 three-pointers in the opening period and finish with 4 three-point field goals for the game.
The Blazers had three different players finish in double figures. Senior point guard Lucy Castellanos and junior power forward Maggie Castellanos had matching line scores. Both players made a pair of three-pointers and finished the game with 12 points.
This was the first ever meeting between Louisville and Hathaway Brown in girls basketball. The Blazers are the 77th different opponent the Lady Leopards basketball program has competed against in their history.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to take on the Massillon Tigers on Thursday, January 5. JV will begin at 5:30 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:00 PM.
