Lady Leopards Now 10-0 After 3-2 Win Over Tuslaw – Softball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team edged the Tuslaw Mustangs 3-2 at Genshaft Park in the George Duhon Memorial Tournament Saturday. With the victory, Louisville improves their undefeated record to 10-0 for the year.
In the circle, Sarah Cantley pitched a complete game, gave up 0 earned runs on 4 hits, and struck out 6 to lead the Lady Leopards. Cantley improved to 8-0 with the victory.
Runs came at a premium during the contest. Louisville got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning when Teagan Rice doubled in the speed Sydney McKeever from first base. McKeever walked to get aboard earlier in the inning, but would finish with 2 of the Leopards 4 hits for the game.
The Mustangs (6-5) knotted the game at 1-1 when Hannah Miller hit a 2-out RBI single to left field scoring Lauren Grage from second.
Louisville retook the lead with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. McKeever kick started the LHS offense with a 1-out bunt single and Rice drew a five pitch walk. Next, Kaycee Ollis reached on an error and McKeever scored on an error by the catcher to give the Leopards the lead back. After that, Cantley also reached on an error scoring Rice to make it a 2-run cushion for Louisville.
Tuslaw inched closer in the sixth. Brianna Cooper reached on an error scoring Faith Baker with 2 outs to cut their deficit to 3-2. The Mustangs also threatened in the seventh. Majestic Sales doubled to center put runners on second and third with one out. However, Cantley struck out the next batter and got the final hitter out on a single pitch. McKeever fielded the groundout to end the game.
The Leopards are now 2-1 against the Mustangs all-time with both victories coming in consecutive years at the George Duhon Memorial Tournament. Louisville also defeated Tuslaw by a single run in the tournament last season 1-0 on April 22, 2017.
