Louisville Falls in Round 1 to Decide NBC at West Branch – Baseball
West Branch 5, Louisville 2
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball Team suffered 5-2 defeat against the host West Branch Warriors Tuesday Evening at WBHS. With the loss, Louisville drops to 18-7 on the season and falls into a tie for first with West Branch at 11-1 in NBC play.
Jack Davis and Caleb Prasco each drove in runs in the final two innings to lead the Leopards. Prasco singled home Cam King to get Louisville on the board in the sixth. Later in the seventh, Davis singled to center scoring Cam Lingle to make it 5-2.
Davis also pitched 5 1/3 innings, gave up 2 runs on 7 hits, and struck out 2 in relief for Louisville.
The Warriors (19-4, 11-1) pounced on the Leopards in scoring 3 unearned runs in the opening frame. They would add to their lead in the bottom of the third when Dakota Gurney hit a 2-out, 2-run single plating Collin Craft and Brant Alazaus.
Alazaus would finish 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI single to lead West Branch on offense. He also earned the win on the mound in pitching 6 innings, giving up 1 run on 4 hits, and striking out 3. Jake Lyons and Mason Walker also had RBIs for the Warriors.
