Louisville Leopards at Springfield Spartans 1994 Football Highlights
Louisville 42, Springfield 14
Leopards Runningback Dan Wilson had a career night in leading Louisville past the host Springfield Spartans 42-14 back on October 14, 1994.
Wilson ran for a known school record 288 yards on 17 carries and found the endzone 4 times to lead the Leopards. On Louisville’s second play from scrimmage, Wilson scored from 56 yards away which put him over 1,000 yards for the season (1,033).
“I wanted to get the 1,000-yard goal off my back,” Wilson said of accomplishing his feat. “I had some of the best line blocking available. From tight end to center, everybody did exactly what they needed to do.”
Wilson would score again on the first play of the Leopards second possession on a 45 yard touchdown run. With the run, he broke the century mark in accumulating 101 yards on just 2 plays. Wilson would go on to score touchdown runs of 3 and 47 yards.
“You’ve got to give credit to the offensive line,” Louisville Head Coach Rick Crislip said of the Leopards offensive performance. “Dan had some big boys blowing him out, but that doesn’t mean you can take anything away from Dan. Without a doubt, he’s the best around.”
In addition, Quarterback Ryan Crislip would score on a 10 yard touchdown scamper and Shawn Conrad would score on the longest play of the night from 83 yards away for the Leopards.
The Spartans scored their only two touchdowns in the second half. Springfield capped off an 11 play, 55 yard drive to start the third quarter with a 12 yard touchdown reception by Jeff Lovell from Newsom. Josh Riley later scored from 1 yard out with 2:44 remaining in the contest after a 14 play, 70 yard drive. The loss dropped the Spartans to 5-2 overall and 2-2 in NBC play.
The Louisville defense led by corners Conrad, Corey Kuhn, and Anthony Buccasso did the rest as the Leopards improved to 6-1 overall and 4-0 in league play for the season.
