The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated the host Sandy Valley Cardinals 68-52 Monday Night at Sandy Valley High School. Louisville has now won 5 of their last 6 to improve to 8-4 on the season.

Paige Cole set a new team record with 7 three-pointers and finished with a game-high 30 points to lead the Leopards. The previous mark was held by Desi Givens who recorded 6 three-point makes during a 22-point performance in a 61-59 home victory over the Jackson Polar Bears on February 18, 2009. Cole hit 5 triples in the third quarter (also a record) alone en route to scoring 18 points during the period. She also recorded a game-high 9 rebounds for LHS.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdLouisville would hit home 11 three-pointers as a team. Sherilynn Mullett made 3 of those shots from the beyond the arch and poured in 24 points. Kayla Gibson also tallied the other three-point attempt and added 8 points.

The Lady Leopards led 18-14 at the end of the first quarter and doubled their advantage to 32-24 by halftime. With the help of Cole’s 5 three-pointers in the quarter, Louisville erupted for 24 points in the third to take a commanding 56-37 into the fourth. The Cardinals would edge the Leopards 15-12 in the final stanza before LHS ran the clock out on a convincing victory.

This was the first ever meeting between the two programs at the varsity level.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to face the Green Bulldogs on Wednesday, January 8. JV will begin at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
