Salem Sweeps Season Series from Louisville – Girls Basketball

Grove Appliance Alliance Ohio AdThe Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell on the road 48-41 to the host Salem Quakers Saturday Afternoon at John A. Cabas Gymnasium. With the loss, Louisville falls to 4-12 on the season with a 4-7 mark against NBC competition.

Kayla Gibson and Ellie Jackson each scored a team-high 10 points to lead the Leopards offense. Gibson, Jackson, and Erin Hahn also had a team leading 3 steals a piece on defense. Other key Louisville contributors included Rachel Israel scoring 6 points, Hanna Lautzenheiser grabbing a game-high 7 rebounds, and both Gibson and Morgan Cole recording 5 rebounds each.

Ellie Davidson also hit double figures with 10 and Casey Johnson added 9 for Salem. Davidson, along with Echo Mayer-Kutz also finished with a game leading 3 assists each. Mayer-Kutz also tied Annie Davidson for the team lead in rebounds with 4.

This is the first time that the Quakers have swept the Leopards in a season series. Louisville still leads the all-time series 14-8, which includes a 6-5 edge in games played at Salem. The Lady Leopards finish 11-3 against the Quakers in NBC matchups since Salem entered the league during the 2011-12 season.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to New Philadelphia to take on a different team of Quakers on Monday, January 29. JV will start at 6:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 7:30 PM.
