Louisville Leopards at Perry Panthers 1987 Football Highlights

Perry became the first and only team to shutout Louisville in four consecutive meetings back on October 2, 1987. The host Perry Panthers dominated the game from start to finish and won 35-0.

Marcus Fite led Perry by carrying the ball 14 times for 103 yards and a touchdown. Fite also had 3 catches for 33 yards in the passing game. Fullback Mike James also scored on touchdown runs of 13 & 1 to cap off his performance of 13 rushes for 66 yards.

Panther Quarterback Joel Kessel connected with Tight End Chris Donatini for a 4 yard touchdown pass to open the scoring. Kessel finished the evening 5 of 7 passing for 60 yards, later ran in a score, and also booted through 4 extra points.

The Leopards made some excellent plays, but could not punch it in the endzone. Louisville Quarterback Brad McEowen was 7 of 17 for 113 yards and Brian Layton was his favorite target who had 3 catches for 54 yards.
