Louisville Leopards at Minerva Lions 2014 Softball Recap & Pictures
Louisville 3, Minerva 1
Amy Hoover’s 2-run bloop single in the top of the seventh proved to be the game winner as Louisville escaped host Minerva 3-1 back on May 6.
Katie Cozy and Annie Woolf had 2 hits each, but the Lady Leopards managed just 6 hits as a team. In the circle, Kirsten Wharmby pitched a complete game, gave up 1 run, and struck out 3.
After spotting the Lions a 1-0 lead, Cozy blasted a solo home run to lead off the fourth inning and knot the game back up at 1-1.
Keri Hupp was hit by a pitch to start the seventh. Then Kylie Zifer got aboard via a bunt single and a bad throw allowed Hupp to advance to third. Zifer then stole second to put both runners in scoring position. After back-to-back Leopard strikeouts, Hoover delivered the clutch hit.
