Leopards Surrender Lead Early, Then Pounce on Tigers 7-2 – Girls Soccer
Louisville 7, Massillon 2
The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Soccer Team downed the host Massillon Tigers 7-2 at Paul Brown Tiger Stadium Saturday Afternoon. With the victory, Louisville is now 5-4-1 on the season.
Hannah Baughman recorded a Hat Trick and added an assist to lead the Leopards. Kayla Gibson also scored a pair of goals and tallied a pair of assists for the Louisville offense.
Destini Adorisio opened up the scoring just 4:05 into the contest. Off a pass from Gibson, Adorisio shot the ball right to left into the lower corner of the net to put the Leopards ahead 1-0.
Massillon struck back with a pair of goals within five minutes of each other to take a 2-1 lead. Scorers for the Tigers included Emma Balizet and Brenna Lightfoot.
Massillon carried that lead until the 24th minute when Louisville began to erupt. The Lady Leopards scored four goals in a span of 8:51 to take a commanding 5-1 lead. Gibson and Baughman contributed two goals a piece during the run. Tapanga Smith registered the assist on the Leopards fourth goal.
The Leopards defense shutout the Tigers over the course of the final 69 minutes. Louisville padded their lead with Baughman’s third score near the end of the 49th minute. Later, Jamacyn Davis broke free down the right side and scored the Leopards final goal with 14:49 remaining.
Louisville is 12-0 against Massillon all-time in Girls Soccer. They are an even 6-0 at home and 6-0 on the road in the series. The Lady Leopards are now 1-3-2 in non-conference play this season.
