With the victory, Louisville improves to an even 1-1-1 on the season and is now 1-0 in league play.

The Leopards struck first midway through the opening half. In the 19th minute, Kayla Gibson crossed a pass over to Megan Chatelain who flushed it home for the score. Louisville would ride that 1-0 advantage into the break.

The Lady Leopards padded their lead with two more goals within the first fifteen minutes of the second half. Hannah Baughman scored via an assist from Sydnee Shankel in the 49th minute. Then Gibson found the net on a breakaway after a pass from midfield by Maddie Berkebile. That goal put Louisville ahead 3-0 with 25:17 remaining in the contest.

Amy Toalston tipped a shot off the goal keeper and into the net in the 60th minute. Then Reilly Lutz won a one on one battle to the net to shrink the Leopards lead to 3-2 with 11:57 left in the contest.

The Louisville defense held the rest of the way to earn the win. With about two minutes to play, a Marlington free kick was blocked to preserve the Leopard lead. On the other end, Baughman banged home a free kick from 30 yards out for her second goal of the contest. The shot clinched the win for the Lady Leopards with 19 seconds remaining.

Louisville out-shot Marlington 17-12 and held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Goalie Kenzie Brown finished with 10 saves for LHS.

After failing to notch a victory in their first 9 meetings against Dukes, the Lady Leopards have now ripped off 6 straight in the series including the last 4 at Marlington. Louisville still trails the all-time series 6-8-1, but is an even 4-4 in games played at the MHS Soccer Stadium. The Leopards are now unbeaten in their last 11 NBC matches.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Alliance Aviators on Wednesday, September 6. JV will begin at 5:00 PM and Varsity will start at 7:00 PM.
