Leopards Sink Lake 40-31 in Dual Season Finale – Wrestling
Louisville 40, Lake 31
The Louisville Leopards Varsity Wrestling Team defeated the host Lake Blue Streaks 40-31 Thursday Night at Lake High School. With the victory, Louisville finishes 11-2 in dual matches this season.
The Leopards won the first two matchups out of the gate and never surrendered their advantage. Logan Vanicek (138) started the night with a pin when just 13 seconds remained on the third period clock. Daniel Kennedy extended the Louisville advantage to 11-0 with a 19-2 technical fall in the next match.
The Blue Streaks won the next two matches to get within 11-10, but that’s as close as they would come. The Leopards took the next four matchups to pull ahead 32-10 to take command of the match. Jax Leonard (170), Brent Paulus (195), and Blake Robbins (220) all won by fall during the run. Noah Peterson (182) also claimed a 4-2 decision.
Lake answered by taking the heavyweight matchup by a 1-0 decision. They followed with two quick pins n the 106 and 113 lightweight matches to cut the Louisville lead to 32-25.
Garrett Lautzenheiser (120) halted the rally by having his way in a 16-1 technical fall to put the match on ice at 37-25. Charlie Simpson (126) clinched the Leopards victory with a 7-4 decision after that.
