Louisville Leopards at Lake Blue Streaks Scrimmage Highlights

Kyle Ashcraft Louisville Leopards Vs. Lake Blue Streaks

Lake 2, Louisville 0

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Football team scrimmaged the host Lake Blue Streaks Saturday Morning at Blue Streaks Stadium. The Blue Streaks won by the final tally of 2-0, but the Leopards showed plenty of explosiveness.

After Louisville’s first series rendered no points, Lake started their offensive series from their own 25. On the Beatty's Camo Hat 2 - 2015first play from scrimmage, Frank Falcone recovered a loose ball in the backfield. Due to the nature of the scrimmage the Blue Streaks kept the ball where it was recovered, but just two plays later Cody Allgood picked of a Lake pass to give the Leopards 2 takeaways in just 3 snaps.

The Blue Streaks series stalled at midfield and the Leopards started their 10-play series on their own 25. Louisville flipped the field thanks to many positive plays including 2 battering, pulse-pounding runs by Rahzul Young. They managed to drive within the Lake 3 yard line on their tenth play before the series ended.

After that, each team ran one short-field series starting from their opponents 25 yard line. A fumbled snapped on the first play doomed the Leopards drive. The first play of Lake’s possession produced the opposite result as Junior Runningback Joel Francis ran 25 yards for the touchdown.

Each team ran one more 10-play series with many second stringers playing. Louisville failed to cross midfield in their series and Sophomore Runningback Rayshawn Brooks broke free for a 56 yard touchdown run for Lake making it 2-0.

The JV teams came in for series after that.

Chase Knoch and Mike Gillespie also recorded interceptions for the Blue Streaks.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will host the Akron Archbishop Hoban Knights in a scrimmage on Thursday, August 20. Freshman will begin at 4:30 PM and Varsity will play at 7:00 PM.
