Leopards Rally in 2nd Half to Force Tie at Lake – Boys Soccer
Louisville 2, Lake 2
The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team rallied from behind in the second half to force a 2-2 tie with the host Lake Blue Streaks at Blue Streaks Stadium Thursday Night. With the tie, the Leopards are now 4-8-1 on the year.
Kael Mickley got Louisville on the board early on in the first half with a goal via an assist from Maddox Drake-McKimm. The 1-0 lead by the Leopards was just their second lead ever in 11 all-time meetings with the Blue Streaks. The 2014 team also led 1-0 in the first half before falling to Lake 2-1 at home.
Lake answered with a pair of goals in the final ten minutes of the first half to take a 2-1 halftime lead. However, the script changed from the 2014 game in the second half when Riley Adams was fouled in the box. He found the back of the net on the penalty kick to tie the contest at 2-2 before the midway point of the second half.
Defense ruled the roost the rest of the way as neither team could break the stalemate.
The tie snaps the Leopards 5 match losing streak when playing at Lake. Louisville has still never defeated the Blue Streaks in trailing the all-time series 0-9-2 which includes an 0-5-1 record in games played at Lake. The only other non-loss for the Leopards in the series was a 1-1 tie back on September 17, 2016. Louisville rallied in the second half to force a draw in that match as well.
The Blue Streaks have outscored the Leopards 24-4 all-time in 11 meetings. The two goals scored by Louisville doubled their all-time total in the series. The Leopards had never scored at Lake prior to Thursday being shutout in all five meetings and outscored 14-0 on the road in the series.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to face the Crestwood Red Devils on Saturday, October 5 at 1:00 PM.
