Louisville Falls at Carrollton in NBC Opener – Girls Basketball
Carrollton 68, Louisville 39
The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host Carrollton Warriors 68-39 Saturday Afternoon at Carrollton High School. With the loss, Louisville drops to 0-2 on the young season and 0-1 in conference play.
Kayla Gibson poured in a game-high 15 points to lead the Lady Leopards. Ellie Jackson also broke double digits with 10 and Rachel Israel tallied 5 for Louisville.
Carrollton jumped out to a 23-7 advantage after the first quarter and cruised to a 37-25 halftime lead. The Lady Warriors continued to extend their lead in the second half in outscoring the Leopards 21-10 in the third quarter and 10-4 in the fourth quarter to take the contest.
Angela Starre scored all of her game-high 20 points in the first three quarters to lead Carrollton. Mikayla Poole hit both of the Warriors 2 three-pointers and finished with 17. Cailee Husted also dropped in 9 and both Darei Leary and Maysie Rogers added 8 each.
This was the 60th meeting all-time between the two teams with Louisville still leading the head-to-head series 37-23. Carrollton’s win snaps the Leopards 2-game winning streak in the series, although the Warriors have now won 5 of their past 6 matchups against Louisville in the Black Hole. However, the Leopards still hold a 16-14 edge in the series in games played at Carrollton.

The Lady Leopards JV Team downed the host Warriors 54-42 Saturday to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Paige Cole made 10 field goals as part of her game-high 25 points to lead Louisville. Sherilynn Mullett also scored 17 and Erika Joseph added 6.
Carrollton was led by Chloe Glass who scored a team-high 16 and Shelby Rogers who also poured in 15.
