Haren Breaks All-Time Scoring Record

Senior Brooke Haren scored 18 of her game high 20 points in the first half to lead the Lady Leopards. Fellow senior Lexi Wasara buried a three out of the gate and Haren followed by scoring the next 8 points to put Louisville ahead 11-2 at the onset.

During that stretch, Haren became the Lady Leopards all-time leading scorer. Her layup with 4:35 left in the opening period tied her with Mandy Jaeb at 1,125 points.

Brooke Haren All-Time Leading ScorerAfter some scoreless possessions, Haren was tipped and stole a bounce pass and broke away into the forecourt. She was fouled going to the basket and went to the line to shoot a pair of free throws. Haren banged home the first shot and the Louisville faithful, bench, and coaches erupted in celebration. Haren treated the situation like business as usual and nonchalantly returned to the line to rattle home the second free throw.

Those historic free throws were part of a 14-0 first quarter run that helped the Leopards build a 17-2 lead. They followed that with an 8-0 run to pull in front 25-4 early on in the second quarter.

Haren would finish with 12 in the first, added 8 in the second, and also scored a basket in the third quarter. She now sits at 1,139 points for her high school career.

Barwick Sets Career Three-Point Record

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThe history making continued in the first half of action Saturday. Late in the opening half, junior Courtney Barwick received a bounce pass from fellow junior Reagan Biery several feet beyond the arch. She looked for an open player to pass before taking advantage of the Cardinals zone defense. The Mooney defender came off Barwick. Barwick then dribbled forward and fired from a foot beyond the three-point line.

The shot swished home for her 97th career three-pointer and the Leopard bench erupted. The coaches had kept the record a secret to that point, so it was also business as usual for Barwick. The previous record holder was Paige Cole (2017-2021) who finished her varsity career with 96 three-pointers.

Barwick would finish with 15 points on the afternoon.
