Girls: Boardman 118, Louisville 15

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThe girls’ track team traveled to Youngstown Boardman High School to take on the Spartans. Despite losing the meet 118-15 the Lady Leopards came away with 20 out of 23 competitors running either personal best or season best times. Improvements were highlighted by the hurdle crew of Brooke Adams, Abby Glaspell, and Elena Foley. Adams ran lifetime best in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles breaking the 60 second barrier in the 300’s with a time of 58.5. Glaspell also ran a personal best in the 300’s clocking in at 71.4. Foley cleared the 100 hurdles running a season best of 20.9. Other lifetime bests were turned in by Chloe Cole in the 3200 (13:02), Josie Rigdon ran a 6:06 1600 which gave her a lifetime personal record in the four lap race. In the field event the girls’ saw freshman Sloane Sypolt toss the shot put 30′ 2″ for a lifetime best and Haley Ramsey tossed the discus 89′ 5″ for another personal best for the Leopards. Lastly Molly Simpson soared her way to a lifetime best jump of 13′ 11″ in the Long Jump.

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdThe Leopard points came by the way of Senior, Caitlyn Gatta who ran a season best time of 5:45 in the 1600m and gained the team’s lone victory. Gatta then came back to earn a second in the 800 earning another three points for the team. Senior, Emma Springer also scored a point for the team by placing 3rd in the 100 with a time of 12.6. Other scorers were Diana Pukys in the 400 (2nd place), senior, Haley Ramsey in the Discus (3rd place), Sloane Sypolt in the shot (3rd place), and Adams in the 300 Hurdles (3rd place).

Sometimes the score does give a clear picture of just how well these girls competed. This young group will continue to improve as the year progresses and we will once again be shooting for more growth and more PR’s in the coming weeks. Way to go ladies you should be proud of your efforts.
