Louisville 3, Salem 1

The Louisville Lady Leopards defeated the visiting Salem Quakers 3-1 Wednesday evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the win, Louisville is now 1-1-2 overall and 1-0 in the NBC.

The Leopards Rachel Baughman broke the scoreless tie with 25:43 left in the opening half. An Beatty's Sports Long Sleeved Leopard Nationobstruction against the Quakers set her up with a free kick just outside the penalty box. From there she buried it into the net just passed the outstretched arms of the goalie.

Louisville added to their lead in the second half via goals by Sami Keefe and Lizzy Mont. Hannah Baughman threw the ball in from the right sideline and Nicole Thompson tapped the ball over to Keefe. She arched the ball into the top of the net for the score with 29:51 left in the second half. Mont scored just under nine minutes later off of a deflected pass from Rachel Baughman.

The Quakers did not find the net until 3:15 remaining when Marissa Swindell dribbled three quarters of the field on a fast break before scoring in the left side of the net. This broke the shutout, but the defensive efforts of Celia Keefe in goal and Sydnee Shankel kept Salem at bay before that.

With the victory, Lady Leopards are now 3-1 against the Quakers all-time and this includes a 1-1 record at Louisville. The Leopards have also taken the last three games in the series overall.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Carrollton Warriors on Wednesday, September 3 at 7:00 PM.
