The Louisville Leopards Varsity Volleyball Team competed in a tri-match at Massillon Washington High School Saturday. Louisville swept the Claymont Mustangs 25-19, 25-21 in their first match before rallying to defeat the host Massillon Tigers 23-25, 25-5, 25-20. With the pair of victories, the Lady Leopards improve to 4-1 on the season.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdLouisville opened Saturday’s tri-match with a straight-set victory over the Claymont Mustangs, winning 25-19, 25-21. The Lady Leopards controlled the opening frame and then held off a stronger Claymont challenge in the second to secure their third win of the season.

Dakota Gross led the Louisville attack with 9 kills, while Ella Tillett added 7 kills to give the Leopards another strong option at the net. Aubrey Johnston paced the defense with 6 digs, and Karis Miglich provided a spark from the service line with 3 aces and 9 service points.

The victory gave Louisville a successful start to the afternoon before turning its attention to host Massillon in the second match of the tri.

Louisville 23-25-25, Massillon 25-5-20

West Main Vet Clinic AdLouisville closed the tri-match with a three-set victory over the host Massillon Tigers, rallying after dropping the opening frame 25-23 to dominate the second set 25-5 and then finishing the match with a 25-20 win in the decisive third.

The second set proved to be the turning point. After narrowly falling in the opener, the Lady Leopards responded with one of their most dominant sets of the young season, overwhelming Massillon 25-5 to completely swing the momentum. Louisville carried that response into the final frame and held off the Tigers 25-20 to complete a 2-0 day.

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdDakota Gross turned in an impressive all-around performance with 10 kills, 11 digs, and 12 service points. Setter Addison Johnston distributed 30 assists while also recording 12 service points, and Ella Tillett continued her strong work at the net with 9 kills and a team-high 6 blocks.

The two victories improved Louisville to 4-1 on the season, giving the Lady Leopards three straight wins since their season-opening loss to Norton.

JV: Louisville 25-25, Massillon 16-15
JV Leopards 5-0

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards Volleyball Team will next host the Perry Panthers on Thursday, September 3. Freshman will begin at 4:30, followed by JV around 5:30, and Varsity concluding the night with an approximate start of 7:00 PM from Louisville High School.
