Louisville Avenges Earlier Loss to GlenOak with 9-5 Win
Video Highlights
Louisville 9, GlenOak 5
Joey Duckworth went 3-for-4 and drove in 5 runs to lead the Louisville Leopards past the host GlenOak Golden Eagles 9-5 Monday night at Joe Gilhousen Field. Kyle White and Garrett Yoder also had 3 hits each to help lead 6-8 Louisville to victory.
Louisville got on the board first when Riley Groves doubled home White in the top of the first. The Leopards then ripped the game wide open by adding four runs in the top of the 3rd. Duckworth hit a triple down the right field line that allowed Stephen Kerzan, White, and Groves to reach home. One pitch later, Yoder singled to left field bringing home Duckworth to make it 5-0 Leps.
Louisville would add on 4 mores runs over the next two innings to take a commanding 9-0 lead. Pavin Parks singled home Jeremy McQuilkin in the top of the fourth. Then the Leopards loaded the bases again for Duckworth who again delivered with a 2-run single to the gap in center. White & Parks scored on the play to put Louisville up 8-0. Finally, the Leopards added their final run in the fifth when White singled home Jordan Hughes.
Amazingly 8 of Louisville’s 9 runs came with 2 outs in the inning and during the 3-run fourth both of those outs were recorded immediately.
On the mound, Kerzan shutout the high-potent GlenOak offense through the first four innings and pitched 6.1 innings altogether striking out 4. The Golden Eagles would break through for 2 in the fifth and then later on make it interesting in the seventh by scoring 3 runs, but the damage had already been done.
Against a team that had beaten them 12-2 at home earlier this season, the Leopards had prevailed 9-5.
