The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Soccer Team defeated the host Salem Quakers 4-1 in their season opener Tuesday night at Sebo Stadium.

Pochubay Scores Twice in the Opening Half

The Leopards roared to a 2-0 lead to start the new season at Salem. Will Pochubay scored via an assist from Adler LaScola to put Louisville on the board first. Carter Burton followed with a goal on an assist from Dominic Porter-Kovacich.

The Quakers chopped the Leopard lead in half by converting a penalty kick.

Pochubay found the back of the net again before halftime on an unassisted goal. Louisville would take that 3-1 advantage into the break.


Leopards Shut Down Quakers in 2nd Half

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThe Leopards would tack on one more goal in the second half. Porter-Kovacich registered his second assist of the night that found the feet of Nick Johnston to make it 4-1.

Louisville held Salem scoreless in the second half to clinch the season opening win. Goalkeeper Giovanni Foradis did not allow a single goal in regular live action, only surrendering a single PK in the first half. He would finish with 9 saves.


Louisville Wins 3rd Straight at Salem

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdThe Leopards have now defeated the Quakers in three consecutive meetings dating back to 2021. Louisville has also won at Salem in their last three meetings played at Sebo Stadium (Formerly called Reilly Stadium prior to 2019). 

The Leopards now lead the all-time series 6-3-1, which includes a 3-2 mark when playing at Salem in the series.

The Quakers outscored the Leopards 16-1 in their first two meetings back in 2011 and 2012 when Salem entered the Northeastern Buckeye Conference. With Tuesday’s result, Louisville now leads the series in total goals 24-23.

Equitable Advisors - Bryce MathieThe Louisville Leopards Boys JV Soccer Team doubled up the host Salem Quakers 2-1 in their season opener Tuesday Evening.

After a scoreless first half, Maddox Mayle put the Leopards on the board first in the second half. The Quakers knotted the game with a PK goal following that. 

Romeo's Pizza Louisville, Ohio AdMaddox Rodriguez then scored on a header via a corner kick by Parker Daum. The highlight reel goal would prove to be the game winner as Louisville held Salem off the scoreboard the rest of the way to edge out the 2-1 win.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Green Bulldogs for their home opener on Thursday, August 22. JV will begin at 5:00 PM and Varsity will follow at 7:00 PM from Louisville Leopards Stadium.
