The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team fell on the road to the host North Canton Hoover Vikings 56-51 Tuesday night at Hoover High School. With the loss, Louisville is now 6-5 at the midway point of the season.

Rogers and Balcomb Combine for 39 for Louisville

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdCohen Rogers made 4 three-pointers and scored 12 of his game-high 21 points in the second half to lead the Leopards. He scored all 9 of his first-half points from beyond the arc as Louisville trailed just 29-26 at halftime. Rogers then added 5 points in the third and 7 more points in the fourth quarter to keep the Leopards within striking distance. He also recorded 3 steals and 2 assists.

Cayden Balcomb hit a pair of three-pointers and scored 10 of his 18 points in the second half to help lead Louisville. He also converted 8-of-10 free throws.

Other scorers for Louisville included Drake Wilson with 7, Brandon Sanders with 4, and Colton Dougherty with 1. Sanders led the team with 4 rebounds, while Wilson finished with a game-high 4 assists.


Trio of Vikings Finish in Double Figures

West Main Vet Clinic AdHunter Hershberger scored in every quarter and led North Canton with a team-high 17 points. He also grabbed 3 rebounds and recorded game-highs of 4 assists and 3 steals.

Connor Newell buried 4 three-pointers and scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half. Brady McCann also scored 9 of his 11 points in the second quarter and finished with 4 rebounds.

John Collins and Roman Geiselman both scored 4 points. Caden O’Lear and Dre Martin rounded out the scoring with a basket each.

Geiselman pulled down a game-high 9 rebounds, helping Hoover secure a 22-17 advantage on the glass.

The Vikings led 14-11 at the end of the first quarter and held that advantage at halftime after each team scored 15 in the second. Hoover extended their lead to 43-36 at the end of the third quarter. Louisville edged North Canton 15-13 in the fourth quarter, but the Vikings never relinquished the lead.

Hoover has now won 5 of their last 6 and improved to 8-2 on the season with the victory.


Louisville Vs. North Canton Boys Basketball Series

The Vikings have also now won 5 of the last 6 games in the rivalry matchup that dates back more than 100 years. North Canton leads the known all-time series 71-62 dating back to the 1925-26 season.
